Academic Programs
Driving the frontiers in this new field bridging computer science, statistics, engineering, medicine, and public health.
PhD program
CPH’s pedagogical approach centers around Problem-Based Learning with early and deep exposure to the clinical and public health contexts in which CPH advances will be deployed. Students in the PhD in Computational Precision Health will gain appreciation and the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams from ideation to development, testing, and validation in the real world. Coursework will be complemented by extensive interaction with world-class faculty at the intersection of computation and health. Training in ethics and equity will be integrated throughout the curriculum.Designated Emphasis
The Designated Emphasis (DE) extends CPH’s educational opportunities to Doctoral Students in existing PhD programs at UCB (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, Health Policy, Computational Biology, Bioengineering) and UCSF (Bioengineering, Biomedical Informatics and Epidemiology). DE students take CPH courses, participate in the CPH Doctoral Seminar, and have a CPH faculty member on their Qualifying Exam and Dissertation Committees.
